HMV X Factor Pre-Order Mix Up Christopher Fisher December 8, 2011 Entertainment, Internet, TV HMV, Britain’s largest entertainment retailer caused quite a stir on Tuesday when an error on the their website lead to rumours that The X Factor was fixed. A page appeared on HMV.com that advertised Amelia Lily’s X Factor Winner’s Single even though the competition does not end until this weekend. Twitter immediately lit up with accusations of a fix. HMV Tweeted this: “Hmv.com has been authorised to accept preorders for the xfactor winner’s single recorded by each of the 3 finalists. However these have been temporarily removed so that all three finalists details can go up tomorrow morning. “Once up, fans will be able to preorder the single by their prefered [sic] finalist but only orders for the eventual winner’s cd will be processed.” Of course it is highly unlikely that the competition would or even could be rigged given the huge backlash that would no doubt ensue if the public were to find out. Amelia Lily’s mother is worried that HMV’s gaff could cost her daughter the competition and reminded the public that Amelia is not safe and urged them to vote. HMV have since corrected the problem on their website and now offer fans the opportunity to pre-order Amelia Lily, Little Mix and Marcus Collins’ Winner Singles separately but only the act who triumph this weekend will have their CD released.
